Icon of the Seas – First Look During Initial Sea Trials

We got a first look at Icon of the Seas, the next “Biggest Cruise Ship In The World” from Royal Caribbean International, as they tested its sea legs for the first time, marking a significant milestone in its construction journey. With an eagerly anticipated debut scheduled for January 2024, this groundbreaking ship set sail from the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland, where it is currently being constructed, to carry out the ship’s initial sea trials.

The ship carries a team of over 450 specialists onboard, who are conducting vital preliminary tests on the main engines, hull, lifeboats, thrusters, and various other components, in preparation for the ship’s upcoming advanced sea trials later this year. During the secondary trials, Icon will be pushed to its limits, pushing the boundaries of what it can achieve.

Sporting her name with pride along the ship’s hull won’t be the only way to recognise Icon. Her Aquadome and unique profile make her extremely distinguishable from any other cruise ships on the seven seas, and we can’t wait to get onboard in 2024 and experience her new features.

Icon of the Seas - What's Included

2024 will be an exciting year of launches… following Icon of the Seas will be Utopia of the Seas, the newest addition to the Oasis Class.
