Disney Cruise Line has announced that they will be welcoming guests to the one-of-a-kind island destination of Lighthouse Point. This is located on the island of Eleuthera in The Bahamas and opens for its first season in summer 2024.
The vibrant island retreat has been created in close collaboration with local artists and advisors. It is a unique celebration of Bahamian culture alongside the quality and service of a Disney cruise.
Uniquely Designed, Sustainably Developed
Upon arrival at Lighthouse Point, guests will be blown away by the expansive, distinctive architecture in vivid, vibrant colours. This bold design was influenced by nature and created in collaboration with regional artists.
The curved structures initially resemble scattered Bahamian shells along the beach. Visitors will find artistic representations of The Bahamas’ natural flora and fauna as well as the pageantry and heritage of Junkanoo parades when they look closely. References to comical folklore figures will be found all over the place, evoking the friendliness and charm of the regional culture.
The design is centred on respect for the ecosystem. The pier was built without the need for dredging, an on-site solar array will provide at least 90% of the destination’s energy requirements, and elevated walkways will lessen the impact on the landscape.
Guests at Lighthouse Point are completely surrounded by the wonders of nature and will get the opportunity to take a look into the efforts taking place to protect the wildlife in their island habitats.
Family Fun & Relaxation
There is so much fun for everyone at Lighthouse Point. Kids can enjoy fun in the sun whilst parents relax on the pristine beaches or spend the afternoon taking part in active adventures, discovering the magic of Bahamian storytelling with your favourite Disney characters. Similar to Castaway Cay and Disney’s cruise ships, Lighthouse Point offers activities and areas for every age group.
Island Features
A Bahamian art and culture pavilion will feature special programs in conjunction with local artists. These will provide guests with the opportunity to learn and celebrate the traditions and natural beauty of the Bahamas.
There is a colourful water park for all the family with two slides, water drums, fountains and more. Toddlers also have a dedicated space to have fun.
Highly-trained Disney Cruise Line counsellors will host a themed kids’ club for children aged 3-12. It includes a splash pad inspired by characters from Walt Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’. Plus, there’s plenty of shade and a dedicated dining area.
Additional activities include a covered gaming pavilion, a ball pit, a volleyball court, watercraft and bike rentals, alongside nature trails for hiking and biking and so much more. A collection of new Port Adventures has been developed in partnership with local tour operators. These will take guests beyond Lighthouse Point to explore the breathtaking beauty and rich culture of the island of Eleuthera.
Beautiful Bahamian Beaches
On the east side of the island, there is an extensive family beach located near the market-style dining, recreation and other amenities.
The peaceful beach along the south-western shore has 20 premium family cabanas including four double cabanas to accommodate larger families and offers massage services.
Now for the adults… North of the family area is an exclusive adults-only beach. A sandy stretch for an afternoon of sun-soaked serenity complete with its own dining area and 6 private cabanas to reserve.
