Our Commercial Manager, Richard Cross, went onboard the Marella Cruises’ Voyager to celebrate her christening at the end of May 2023.
He shares his thoughts on the brand new ship:
I am onboard the magnificent Marella cruises’ Voyager, immersed in the spectacular christening cruise, and I cannot contain my excitement! I will share the wonders that unfold before my eyes as I sail through this extraordinary experience.
Staterooms
Among the ship’s range of spacious cabins, my home for the christening is a Balcony Junior Suite, a sanctuary of indulgence. It is one of the largest cabins I have ever encountered, not to mention the huge bathroom. The balcony is a retreat of pure tranquility, housing ample furniture and even a hammock. It is certainly the sort of place you can unwind after a busy day and soak up the breathtaking views complimented by the gentle sea breeze.
Culinary Delights
Marella Voyager truly is the culinary adventure of a lifetime. I loved ‘The Kitchens’ concept which consisted of 8 innovative food hall eateries, sure to tantalise your tastebuds. My favourite had to be the mouthwatering Yorkshire Pudding Wrap. Throughout the ship, there are also an additional eight dining options, each offering a unique experience ranging from casual bites to speciality dining. The variety and quality of all the cuisine is simply unparalleled.
Bars & Lounges
The mesmerising speakeasy, The Exchange, is hidden away on board. Going in here is an adventure in itself as you step into an enchanting world where time stands still. I indulged in one-of-a-kind cocktails whilst watching the captivating live entertainment. The atmosphere is one of pure magic.
Flutes, a Champagne bar onboard, is a haven for enthusiasts of bubbles. The space, spanning over two floors, feels so luxurious as soon as you step in. Not to mention, being greeted by an orchestra of bubbles. My favourite thing was the ‘Push For Bubbles’ button, conveniently placed on each table. This meant I barely had to lift a finger, quite literally, to able to savour the finest champagne. It exudes decadence and celebration.
Onboard Entertainment
The excitement onboard kept building as I eagerly awaited the debut of the incredible productions in the Broadway Show Lounge. Alongside the new shows, Marella Voyager showcases the return of the cherished favourites.Each performance in this diverse and captivating lineup is a true masterpiece, filled with talent and energy. The shows held the ability to transport me into a world of pure delight.
The Arts House
The Arts House was my favourite venue onboard the ship. During the day, I loved taking part in the activities on offer, my favourites being shuffleboard and the painting sessions. When the sun goes down, the air comes alive with soulful melodies of live music and the ambience is second to none. It’s a place of creativity, inspiration and relaxation.
On the 31st May, Becky Hill gave an incredible performance to launch the new ship, Voyager, and it was certainly a night to remember.
