You can get a taxi from right outside Southampton Central Train Station direct to the port, it's only about 1 mile and will not cost you very much at all.
If you are travelling from Scotland or Newcastle, routes are available from Loganair.
Southampton Airport is only about 5 miles from the port, there is a train station at the airport called Southampton Airport Parkway Station which operates a regular service to Southampton Central Station and it would cost approximately £3.50 per person. You can get a taxi from the airport, which will cost you approximately £18.
