Your Quark fare includes accommodation, all meals, daily excursions, onboard lectures, expert guides, and use of polar gear like parkas and boots. Adventure options like kayaking or heli-landing are available on select ships at an extra cost. Alcoholic drinks, Wi-Fi, and gratuities are usually not included, unless stated. Always check your specific voyage for exact inclusions.

Quark Expeditions is owned by Travelopia, one of the world’s largest experiential travel companies. While part of a larger group, Quark operates independently and focuses exclusively on polar expedition cruising. They’ve been pioneering Arctic and Antarctic voyages since 1991, with a reputation for expert-led experiences and small-ship access to the polar regions.

There’s no formal dress code - comfort and practicality are key. During excursions, guests wear thermal layers, waterproof gear, and parkas (often supplied by Quark). Onboard, casual wear is the norm: jeans, jumpers, and sturdy shoes. Some guests dress up slightly for dinner, but there are no tuxedos or gowns needed. Layering is more important than fashion when travelling to the poles.

Quark operates small, polar-class vessels built for safety, stability, and access in icy waters. Their fleet includes purpose-built expedition ships like Ultramarine, ice-strengthened vessels, and hybrid-powered ships. All carry fewer than 200 guests, allowing for quick landings, remote access, and a more personal, immersive experience. Ships feature modern cabins, lounges, expert guides, and gear for hiking, kayaking, and more.

Quark is mostly inclusive - you get accommodation, meals, landings, lectures, use of gear, and guided excursions. However, alcohol, internet, gratuities and optional adventures like kayaking or heli-hiking may cost extra. It’s not all-inclusive like a mainstream cruise line, but the value lies in the expert-led polar access and equipment included.

Yes. Quark requires guests to be at least 8 years old at the time of travel, though some voyages may recommend a higher age based on difficulty. There’s no strict upper age limit, but guests should be physically fit enough for landings, Zodiac rides, and cold-weather conditions. A medical form may be required. If you have mobility concerns or health questions, it’s best to check with your cruise advisor before booking.
