Viking have launched their newest ship, the 8th addition to their ocean fleet, Viking Neptune.

Christened in Los Angeles by aquanaut Nicole Stott, the 930-passenger ship then went on to sail the 138-night world cruise which began back in December in Fort Lauderdale.

Being almost identical to the other Viking ships, albeit a slightly larger gym and its very own unique art collection, the layout works remarkably well. The arrangement allows for an easy to navigate guest flow around the vessel with a dramatic infusion of natural light which pours in through floor-to-ceiling windows. The well-designed, comfortable furnishings make the ship inviting and acts as a home away from home for all guests.

Viking Neptune features 9 passenger decks with 2 pools; one open-air infinity pool and one covered for all weather conditions. There is a poolside Winter Garden courtyard and a 2-storey observation lounge for fabulous views as you sail out of port. Wellness facilities onboard include a fitness centre, a Nordic spa complete with a hydrotherapy pool, a sauna and a snow grotto. After a day of relaxation or excursions, head to the theatre, cabaret lounge or the three deck atrium for live music performances and entertainment. Alternatively, take a stroll on the full wraparound promenade.

Dining venues include the Norwegian themed Mamsen’s, the Italian restaurant Manfredi’s, the Chef’s Table, the Kitchen Table and the World Cafe. There is plenty of choice for everyone.

This is the first ship to appoint a small hydrogen fuel cell demonstrator. This is an alternative to LNG so it’s arguably more sustainable.

Explore Viking Expedition

Viking also specialise in expedition itineraries with their purpose-built, 378-passenger ships; Octantis and Polaris. These vessels are specifically built to explore the world’s most remote destinations and bring you as close as possible to the most magical scenery on Earth.

Immerse yourself in majestic, untamed regions, such as Antarctica and the Great Lakes, with more indoor and outdoor viewing areas than other expedition ships. Plus, with the same familiarity as other Viking vessels, guests feel right at home. These two ships feature some of the Viking trademarks like Mamasen’s, Mafredi’s the LivNordic spa and the overall decor. However, there are some expedition-line exclusive such as Nordic balconies, Aula amphitheatre, interactive science lab and two submarines onboard.
